Principal’s Welcome

Melanie Jones

Welcome to Willunga Primary School, located in the beautiful historic township of Willunga, 47km from the Adelaide city centre. The township is located adjacent to some of South Australia’s best beaches to the west, rolling hills to the south and the McLaren Vale wine region to the north. The township has a proud history and heritage, as does the school, which was established in 1877.

The name Willunga is derived from an Aboriginal word ‘Willangga’ meaning,’the locality of green trees’ We acknowledge that the land on which we learn, create and grow is the traditional lands for the Kaurna people and we respect their deep spiritual connection and relationship with their country. We acknowledge the Kaurna people as the traditional custodians of the Adelaide Region and that their cultural and heritage beliefs are still as important to the Kaurna people today.
